Ten Thousand People.com |
| 22nd January 2006 |
|
So you want your face to be seen by potentially billions of people? Get your picture on tenthousandpeople.com
Check out grid i1-82 ;)
"The deal is: No bucks, no Buck Rogers. What makes airplanes and rockets go up? Funding. Funding in every aspect. That means that the Aerospace Engineers who work on projects need to be paid. Why? So they can pay off their college debts! I'm trying to make $100,000 and I have no idea if this will work. I've made an investment and I'm hoping for return. I'm an Aerospace Engineering student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the number one Aerospace Engineering school in the US (last i heard, at least) and I'd like to be able to keep attending school next year. In addition, I am also training to be a pilot, which is even more expensive than engineering!
I'm inviting everybody to buy an "image block" on the front page of this site for a mere 10 bucks. There are ten thousand image blocks on the front page, so I figure even if I only get a few hundred people, it will at least pay for part of a semester here, hopefully more. Every filled block will be clickable and users will see an enlarged version of the image block (somebody's face) along with any of the following: personal caption, web link, or email address. These image blocks are cross referenced by grid numbers (like battleships!) for easy reference. I'm aiming to keep the site up for at least five years if it's successful. Hopefully more. I've placed myself in the first grid, 0A1, as an example.
In addition to all of this, I also see this project as an experiment. Everybody has seen those pictures that are made up of thousands of tiny little photos which create some overall shape or image. I have no idea what these are called, but the objective of this experiment is to create a random one. People who buy image blocks will be able to choose their grid spot. I'm interested in observing the distribution over time, as well as the outcome of the overall image. Perhaps it will be abstract, or perhaps people will somehow figure out a way to create an image. Call me a nerd if you want, but it'll be interesting!"

i82.co.uk a0.01 |
| 10th July 2005 |
|
I have uploaded the news system for i82.co.uk so everyone has something to look at. I will try and update it as often as possible even if it is just to tell you I have written one more line of code for the site. I have a bit more written for the site, the maps database is almost complete so that will probably be the next thing up and running. If you have any suggestions or comments then head over to the forums.

New Design Release Soon |
| 1st August 2000 |
|
Check out the new pages. Most of the links are greyed out until they have been written or converted into the new design format. Until then, check out the site; most of the news will be posted there so it may be worth bookmarking that page rather than here unless you need old maps or tutorials which aren't yet supported (but should be in the next day or two). The forums are all linked in which is the important thing!

Highway Closing |
| 21st July 2000 |
|
As you may have read from the h82 forums, Eagle Eye is closing down Highway82. After a few loooong discussions between major members of the i82 community it has been decided to expand and improve i82.co.uk. There will be a few major players maintaining their own sections, each collating information from the i82 community. Of course, this will mean an entire site redesign so make your suggestions known on the forums!
There'll be a couple of guys taking care of your skins, offering good advice and maintaining an archive of cars, templates and resources.
A large map group will help with all map problems you have. Dante & Stormbringer will be able to give detailed help on your Terraformer problems, and a number of map reviewers headed by Omikron will point you in the right direction to the best maps.
Albertus will be arranging the chatrooms and joining forces with Omikron on some new tournament ladders; including Escort and Knockout action!
It's not all design issues and downloads; there'll be pages of fun stuff maintained by MrMatt and Arsenic Pants, including Pic of the Week, as well as online chat rooms to meet up with fellow surfing vigilantes.
You'll also notice a change in the forums. Registration form a valid email address is required to cut out the infamous Wackie-syndrome. I've also allowed more admins on the board to help keep control of the newbies and vets who should know better :)
These posts and many others are subject to change. If YOU think you can provide an entertaining and up-to-date area of i82.co.uk, on any area of i82, please get in contact with Dante for the lowdown.

Highway Closing 2 |
| 21st July 2000 |
|
These discussions were conducted over ICQ which has started to be a bit unreliable. Twelve good men with disconnection problems... So we've reverted back to an old idea of Albertus and set up a permanent IRC chatroom. The tutorial on how to set this up can be found here. For IRC regulars, add the west.gamesnet.net server on port 6667 and find the #i82 channel. It's open 24hrs a day, 365.25 days a year :) |
